Zac Efron, Bodyguard Attacked in Skid Row; Bodyguard Says Actor Saved His Life
Hollywood heartthrob Zac Efron was attacked last weekend after getting stuck in the skid row area of downtown Los Angeles, Calif.
According to TMZ, the 26-year-old and his bodyguard told police that they had run out of gas, and were sitting in their car waiting for a tow truck.
While they were waiting, they threw a bottle out of the window of their car, and it smashed on the pavement near a group of people they described as "transients."
The people ran over to the car to confront them as they assumed the bottle was being intentionally thrown at them.
The bodyguard got out of the car, and got attacked by two men. He said the "transients" went after him with a "spear," and stabbed him in the face, stomach and chest.
Efron got out of the car to come to his bodyguard's aid, and swung a vodka bottle at the men to fend off the attack. The men then punched Efron in the mouth.
"It was the hardest I've ever been hit in my life," Efron told police.
No one was arrested; the police felt the altercation was mutual.
Despite getting punched during the fight, Efron still filmed a sketch on Tuesday, March 25 for a secret project with "Neighbors" co-star Seth Rogen and football player Aaron Rodgers.
A photo of the sketch was tweeted, then deleted by a producer who works with MTV, so there is speculation that the skit could have something to do with the MTV Movie Awards.
