Diablo 3 Expansion Pack: Reaper of Souls Won't Have Error 37 When It Launches, Coming to Xbox One Eventually
Reaper of Souls, the Diablo III expansion pack, will be released at 12:01 a.m. on March 25.
The online-only game has had an Error 37 when it launched in May 2012, but this time around, they are totally prepared. Players have been testing the expansion for four weeks, and are better prepared to handle the influx of players this time around.
"When 2.01 went live a couple of weeks ago, that was the same codebase as Reaper," said Alex Mayberry, lead producer, to Eurogamer. "I mean, it is Reaper with Act 5, Crusader and Adventure Mode turned off. Come tonight when it's time to launch, we just turn those things on."
Users will be able to continue playing their game up until the midnight release, and won't even have to sign out in order to see the expansion pack.
Press members were given a beta version of the game, and except for the final boss battle, they were shown a mostly complete game, said Cinemablend. This means full reviews will quickly be coming.
A PlayStation 4 version of Diablo 3 was previously confirmed, and today it was announced that an Xbox One version is currently in development.
Though Mayberry said it "makes more sense" to develop the game for Xbox One, he is not sure about the details, according to GameSpot.
"I don't know where we are with Microsoft right now so I can't really comment on what that contract looks like," he said. "The point is we are developing for Xbox [One] and PS4 simultaneously. We hit those major platforms and then our goal as a development team is to make them run."
He also added that Microsoft and Blizzard can now be left to work out the details.
