'Grimm' Season 3 Spoilers: Nick 'Going to the Dark Side'
The end of "Grimm's" second season left Nick (David Giuntoli) in a state of limbo; he appeared to be dead, but loyal viewers knew better. Baron Samedi (Reg E. Cathey) unleashed a band of zombies on Nick and the others in a container yard. The Baron spit his deadly green venom onto Nick, which put Nick in a catatonic state. Next, he was in a coffin-shaped metal box on his way to the Royal. Although he appeared to have met his demise, viewers know that Rosalee (Bree Turner) saved him from death's clutches. However, season three will reveal what kind of state Nick will be in upon waking-- and there is a good chance he will not be his normal self.
According to ZAP2it, the creators and cast of "Grimm" spoke at Comic-Con 2013 about what the upcoming season has in store. Showrunner David Greenwalt hinted at what comes next for Nick.
"He's definitely going to the dark side," Greenwalt said. "And he may get another face of green spit before it's over."
Although season three production is still in its early stages, Giuntoli hinted at the fact that Nick will definitely have a different attitude once he awakes from his coma-like state. "It's very nice to get to be angry," Giuntoli said. "There's gonna be a lot of fighting in this first episode [back]."
Yet, Giuntoli has not been given all the details yet about what lies ahead for his character. Even the showrunners are not completely certain as to what will happen next season. "We know a little bit more than David [Giuntoli] about where we're going but we're about two weeks ahead of the cast," Greenwalt revealed.
Co-star Silas Weir Mitchell, who plays Monroe, said, "I really think it's nice to know what's on the horizon but the fun of it is the difficulty getting there," he said about the show's future.
What was revealed is that his character will walk down the aisle with Rosalee in one of the upcoming episodes. "I look forward to the obstacles on route to what is hopefully a felicitous nuptial," Mitchell said.
Sasha Roiz, who plays Captain Renard, the most mysterious of the "Grimm" characters, said he loves playing the intriguing enigma. "I think it's great fun. I like the slow reveal," Roiz said. "I like keeping the audience guessing, I like keeping myself guessing. I look forward to all the various machinations he has in store."
The opening scene of season three was also revealed to the Comic-Con audience. The opening has Monroe and Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch) trying to escape the zombie mob that were pursuing them in last season's finale.
Greenwalt added to fan curiosity and anticipation by adding, "You might see a second key this season. Eventually it will lead to something really big and unbelievable."
Grimm returns to NBC on October 25 at 9 p.m.
