'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' Movie Update: Major Death Spoiler Revealed in Kellogg's Commercial [Video]
An online commercial released a major spoiler about the upcoming Spider-Man film over the weekend.
A major spoiler about a death in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" was slipped into a commercial for Kelloggs' "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" Web-Slinging Game.
The video is one of three videos that were released online over the weekend, according to The Guardian. All are narrated by Marvel comics icon Stan Lee.
The video discloses that Chris Cooper's Norman Osborn, a character who doubles as the villain The Green Goblin in the comics and the movies, dies in the new film. His son, Harry Osborn, played by Dane DeHaan, can be seen inheriting Oscorp Industries, the multi-million dollar company founded by his father.
Cooper hinted in an interview with Moviefone last year that Norman could meet his fate in the last movie.
"All I can say is this is a very strange introduction for Norman Osborn," he said. "I just can't reveal why it's that way, but this is not the beginning of Norman. It is the introduction, but it's not the beginning, and I think that's as far as I can go."
In the original trilogy of films, which follows the comic books, Harry Osborn took over for this father as The Green Goblin, but did so over the course of three movies, not one.
"The Amazing Spider-Man 2," which will be released in May, has also been criticized for revealing other spoilers. Emma Stone's character, Gwen Stacy, was spotted on set wearing the same clothes in which she died in the comics.
The film will also star Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man and Jamie Foxx as Electro, one of Spider-Man's many enemies.
