Nike Release Dates 2014: Kobe 9 Elite 'Perspective,' LeBron 11 'Summit Lake Hornets' Hit Stores on Saturday
Nike is expected to make headlines once again as they are set to release the latest colorways of Kobe Bryant's and LeBron James' signature shoes.
First up is the third colorway of the Bryant's ninth signature shoe with Nike—the Kobe 9 Elite that will arrive at retailers in the "Perspective" edition.
The Kobe 9 Elite "Perspective," which is officially listed as the Neon Turquoise/Volt colorway of the model, features a Turquoise Flyknit upper with carbon fiber areas.
Volt hints appear on the lining, Nike Swoosh, and Kobe Bryant logo on the tongue. The nine red lines can be seen at the back of the shoe, symbolizing Bryant's sutures when he underwent surgery to repair a torn Achilles tendon.
According to Nike, this edition of the popular signature sneakers was inspired by Spanish cubist painters like Pablo Picasso, who were known for using blue and blue-green shades in their artworks.
"The blue period was a three year-stretch (1901-1904) of artistic brilliance by the Spanish cubist painter, whose artwork during this time featured shades of blue and blue-green. Inspired by the Spanish master, Bryant brings a similar beauty to his game," Nike noted.
Aside from the impressive look of this shoe, it also boast Nike's three key technologies—the Flyknit, Flywire and Lunarlon technologies, which were combined to produce a super lightweight shoe without sacrificing comfort and durability.
The Kobe 9 Elite "Perspective," which is expected to make waves like the "Masterpiece" and "Inspiration" editions of the shoe, will come out on Saturday, March 8, in select Nike stores worldwide for $225 per pair.
Aside from the latest colorway of Bryant's signature sneaker, the Nike LeBron 11 will also hit shelves on Saturday.
James' 11th signature shoe will come out in "Summit Lake Hornets" edition, which is listed as the Court Purple/Reflective Silver-Vivid Blue colorway of the shoe.
This colorway of the LeBron 11, which was inspired by James' youth team, features a purple-based upper part with vivid blue hints along with a honeycomb pattern and will be sold in select Nike accounts for $200 per pair.
