Josh Hutcherson Says He Would Tattoo 'Every Inch' of His Body If He Could
Josh Hutcherson is known for starring in "Hunger Games" and having an adorable friendship with Jennifer Lawrence, but if it were up to him, he'd also be heavily tattooed.
"If I weren't an actor, I would have tattoos covering every inch of my body," said Hutcherson to Us Weekly.
The 21-year-old actor has the libra astrological sign tattooed on his wrist, and he has an anchor tattooed on the left side of his torso. He also has a nautical scene between his shoulder blades. For the most part, his tattoos are hidden.
But he already has to spend extra time on the makeup chair to get them hidden. For "The Hunger Games" he spends 90 more minutes getting his ink covered up because Peeta Mellark does not have tattoos.
He got his first tattoo at 17 with the consent of his mother.
"I got my first tattoo when I was 17—I was filming 'Red Dawn' in Detroit, and my mom was with me! She's a very cool mom," he told Seventeen.
Hutcherson decided to get an anchor because he has always liked old-school sailor tattoos, and the scenery on his back features a ship sailing into a sunset. But he acknowledges how much of a hassle it is to be a tattooed actor.
"Covering them up for the movie is such a pain," he said. "If I'm going to have my shirt off in a scene, it means an extra hour-and-a-half in hair and makeup to cover the tattoos on my side and my back."
Guess he'll have to shift his interests elsewhere, such as basketball, which he plays five days a week, or love.
"I'm a hopeless romantic! But I'm not one to have my feelings and then not do anything about it," Hutcherson said. "I always seem to find a way to show how I feel. I can be quiet and reserved with my friends, but when I need to, I can be big and entertaining."
