Oscars Red Carpet: Better Dressed in 2013 or 2014?
We already know who impressed on the red carpet on Sunday, but were these stars able to pull off a better look this year than last?
Jennifer Lawrence wore Dior both years. For 2013, she went for a white and blush pink gown that was slightly bridal, but truly beautiful. This year she went for a bright gown that showed off her figure. Ultimately, her 2013 gown wins. She again decided to do the long back necklace (backlace, as some call it) this year, and the peplum was not the best feature. Everything about her 2013 look was original.
Amy Adams went for a pale Oscar de la Renta ballgown last year, and this year, she went for a sexy column dress. Hands down, 2014 is her better year. A blue in this shade just works really well on Adams, and her dress from 2013 is one we've all seen plenty of times before.
Anne Hathaway's dress was very last-minute last year. After she saw that her dress would look too similar to her "Les Miserables" co-star, she changed her choice at the last minute. She decided to go for a blush pink column gown with prominent darts. This year, she went for a shimmering dress, and though both are very beautiful, it's her 2013 dress that really stood out. It was so delicate, and she knew it was her year to impress. So she did. This year there was less pressure on her to look perfect, so she just had fun.
Naomi Watts doesn't really have missteps in the style department. Last year, she showed up in a sparkling Armani Privé gown that had an interesting cutout, which made it that much more intruiging. This year she also went sleek, but she went simpler. She chose a white Calvin Klein dress that looked effortless, and it was a winner. A sparkly dress can seem so obvious at the Oscars, so it's nice to see her look outstanding in something that isn't super bejeweled.
