Pippa Middleton Talks About the Royal Wedding Dress: 'It Fitted a Little Too Well'
Pippa Middleton is finally speaking about the dress that made her backside famous.
Speaking at the Women in Advertising and Communications dinner, she joked about the dress. "As I have found out, recognition has its upside, its downside and-you may say-its backside," said Middleton.
She said she was glad the dress fit. "In retrospect, it fitted a little too well."
The Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen dress made her one of the most popular parts of the nuptials between her sister and Prince William.
In 2012, she told the Mail on Sunday, "It is a bit startling to achieve global recognition before the age of 30 on account of your sister, your brother-in-law and your bottom. One day I might be able to make sense of this."
Though she received a lot of praise, she was also met with some criticism.
Lesley Reynolds Kahn, a London spa owner, didn't believe that the flattering result was completely natural.
"Because I think, if you look at other pictures of her and you see her in jeans, she's got quite a flat bottom. I think possibly for the day, for that gorgeous dress, she may have had some sort of pants that gave her a little bit of a lift, or even a little bit of padding."
The Duchess of Cambridge's little sister tried to move on from her famous dress as quickly as possible.
She released a book in 2012, though she faced criticism for including very obvious party planning tips. Her book only sold 18,000 copies, and she admitted that it was "difficult" at the dinner.
At least, she got great feedback after her talk.
A guest said, "It was the first time she's made a speech of this kind but you wouldn't have known it, she was so relaxed. It was unbelievable how open she was - I don't think anyone was expecting that. She talked about the royal wedding and her career since. She came across as really grateful for the opportunities but also talked about the pitfalls of her position."
