Xbox One News: Console Price Cut in UK, Titanfall Bundle Announced by Microsoft
The Titanfall Xbox One bundle has been expected for some time now, but it isn't likely anyone saw this coming—mere months after launch, the XBox One is already receiving its first price cut.
Xbox's UK Marketing Director Harvey Eagle recently revealed that the Xbox One will receive a permanent price cut on Feb. 28 bringing the console's cost down to £399 in the United Kingdom, a savings of £30 but still £50 above the price of the PlayStation 4 in the country, IGN reported.
This price cut is onlyin the United Kingdom, but the implications are far reaching. According to the latest figures released by Microsoft and the makers of the PlayStation 4, Sony, the Xbox One is lagging behind the PS4 in sales; 3 million XBox Ones have been sold compared to 5.3 million PS4s. While the price cut might seem like an act of desperation, Eagle claimed it was simply intended to benefit the company's fans.
"For us it's about giving U.K. gamers the best value we can. That really starts with the announcement we're making today with this new £399 price-point," Eagle said. "But it's also very much about the launch of Titanfall, and now seems a great time to offer the best value we can and include what is the hottest game of this new console generation in the box for our fans."
Eagle went on to confirm the XBox One Titanfall bundle and said that it is not the special edition Titanfall Xbox One that was allegedly leaked, but the standard black Xbox One (with all the regular extras that come with it) along with a digital copy of Titanfall all for normal Xbox One price of $499. The pre-order is available now, but only a limited amount of bundles will be offered by Microsoft.
"I would encourage people who want to get their hands on this offer to pre-order fast," Eagle explained. "But what I will tell you is that it's a significant promotion. If you think of it in order of magnitude as what we did on those Day One consoles with FIFA and Forza coming included. This is of similar longevity."
