Infamous Second Son News: 24GB Mandatory Install Required to Play Game
It's here, and it's gigantic. The install size for Infamous: Second Son comes in at a massive 24GB of data to play the PlayStation 4 exclusive.
News of Infamous: Second Son's 24GB data size emerged in a post on the PlayStation forums showing off the official European box sleeve for the game. In comparison, Infamous 2 on the PlayStation 3 required users to download 14GB of data in order to play the game.
This may seem like a lot of data, but compared to some other games the install base for Infamous: Second Son is not quite as large as it seems. Killzone: Shadow Fall requires users to download 39.7GB of data in order to play the game. In addition, the PlayStation 4's hard drive has 500GB of space available, so users will have plenty of leftover room for additional games if they buy Infamous: Second Son. Players will also be able to take advantage of the PlayGo system on the PlayStation 4 that allows users to begin playing a game even though the game's download is not finished after a certain amount of data has been installed. However, it is unclear what the threshold for the PlayGo system would be for Infamous: Second Son.
Infamous: Second Son is due for release on March 21, and many consider it to be one of the best games coming to the PlayStation 4 in 2014. The game follows Delsin, a man with special powers that allow him to control smoke and neon in a variety of different ways. Users will be able to walk up the side of buildings, turn into a puff of smoke and flow through air ducts, and use their powers to strike at foes. The game takes place in a digital version of Seattle, and users will be able to explore the city in whatever way they chose. Players will be able to choose good vs. evil missions that will allow them to experience the game in different ways based on their moral alignment.
With so many gamers focused on the impending release of Titanfall, Infamous: Second Son represents the best way for Sony to try and steal some of that game's thunder when both games are launched in March.
