First-Time Dad Simon Cowell Welcomes Baby Boy, Shares Excitement on Twitter [Photos]
Meet a much softer side to "American Idol" and "The X Factor" judge Simon Cowell because he is absolutely in love after the birth of his first son.
Eric Cowell was born on Valentine's Day in Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, according to Metro. Upon exiting the hospital, Cowell was beaming, something that is very well reflected on Twitter. He has only tweeted about his son in the last few days.
The first tweet announced his son's birth: "Very happy to say Eric was born at 17.45pm. Healthy and handsome."
Following tweets explained that girlfriend Lauren Silverman was in great shape and that the name Eric was chosen because it is his father's name. And like other proud parents, Cowell shared a few pictures of his baby boy.

Some absolutely adorable moments include a picture of Cowell and Eric, with the caption, "I never knew how much love and pride I would feel." He also included a close up of the adorable baby boy.

A family friend told The News that Cowell will be in his Upper East Side home for the next few weeks. "They are really happy to all be together and get Eric home and introduce him to Squiddly and Diddly," the friend said of Cowell's two Yorkies who came to New York in his private jet on Friday.
Silverman's mom and sister were in the delivery room, but Cowell's mother was back in the U.K., so Cowell is also eager to get back to England, so that his mother can meet her grandchild, too.
Other celebrities used Twitter to congratulate Cowell. Mario Lopez said, "#Congrats to my bow @SimonCowell & his Valentine's Day baby!!! Smooth move... Only you could pull that off Sir."
Based on his last Twitter update, it looks like we can expect to see more of Cowell's new heart-warming side in the future. "The last three days have been incredible. Eric Lauren sqiddly and diddly all happy," he wrote.
