'Parenthood' Webisodes: NBC Announces Crossover With 'Friday Night Lights' in 'Friday Night at the Luncheonette'
For the first time, NBC is staging a crossover between "Parenthood" and "Friday Night Lights" as part of an upcoming digital series.
In effort to keep viewers engaged while many primetime shows are on a brief hiatus due to the 2014 Winter Olympics, NBC.com, Hulu and YouTube will all stream original four-part digital series of "Chicago Fire," "Parks and Recreation," "Grimm" and "Parenthood," reports TV Guide.
"Parenthood's" digital series, which is called "Friday Night at the Luncheonette," will feature Amber keeping an eye on her cousin Max while also working after hours at the Luncheonette. When the band Crucifictorious shows up, Amber desperately tries to keep things under control while Max documents events using his phone. Jesse Plemons will reprise his FNL role as Landry Clarke, the lead singer of Crucifictorious, and Derek Phillips will appear as Billy Riggins. The four-part digital series premieres on Thursday, Feb. 13, notes TVLine.
"We worked closely with the writers on these series and want to give our audience a chance to stay in touch with their favorite shows," said Rob Hayes, executive vice president of digital media at NBC Entertainment, in a statement. "These digital series provide a great way to give our loyal audience even more original programming."
Later this month on Feb. 27, "Parenthood" will return with all-new episodes that promise to offer major changes in the comedic-drama series. According to NBC, in the upcoming episode, "Just Like Home," "The Bravermans struggle to adjust to new living arrangements as the bomb drops: Zeek and Camille want to sell the house." In addition, Ray Romano will make a guest appearance.
A preview video shows that Sarah will go on another date with Carl, Julia and Joel will spend some time living apart and Zeek will put his beloved house on the market.
