'Glee' Season 5 Episode 9 Spoilers: Santana and Rachel's Feud Turns Violent
When "Glee" returns, Rachel and Santana will be at odds...and it will get ugly.
On the next episode, "Frenemies," Santana (Naya Rivera) will land a part as Rachel's (Lea Michele) understudy in "Funny Girl," which will cause them to butt heads. The tension between them will turn violent, and will even alter their current living situation.
The synopsis for the upcoming episode reads: "Rachel will face off with Santana. Kurt is going head-to-head with Elliott. And Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz) will be feuding with her ex-boyfriend, Artie (Kevin McHale)."
TVLine also confirms that rumors about season five having only 19 episodes are false; the current season will have 22 episodes.
Fox released a new midseason poster for the series last week that focuses on Rachel and Kurt, which signals a shift to the New York storyline. The new poster hints that the second half of the season will focus exclusively on the former New Directioners that moved to the Big Apple. The poster also advertises the show's new day and time; the dramedy is moving back to Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. EST. You can see the new poster here.
Fox chief Kevin Reilly told reporters at the Television Critics Association winter press tour last month that not all of the McKinley students will move to NYC.
"Creatively, it would ridiculous if everybody moves to New York," said Reilly. "This season, there's going to be a graduation [from Lima's William McKinley High]. Several of the cast members will move on, and a few others will go to New York."
While some McKinley High students will fade into the background, Sue Sylvester will move to NYC along with her former students.
"As long as there's a show, there's Jane," Reilly said.
He said the characters who do not move to New York "will arc back in when we do special episodes. They'll always be a part of it. The way it's going to dovetail next season, we're going to see some familiar faces coming around in some capacity."
"We do have [the show] through next season and that will be the final season," Reilly continued. "[Ryan's] got some fantastic ideas on what we're going to next year for the final year."
TVLine confirmed that Dianna Agron, a.k.a Quinn Fabray, will be returning for the 100th episode, as well as Heather Morris, Mark Salling, Amber Riley and Harry Shum.
"Glee" will return for Episode nine of its fifth season on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 8 p.m. EST on Fox.
