Real Madrid Transfer News Update 2013: Kaka To Get Second Chance With Club
Kaka will have another chance to prove himself with Real Madrid.
Real Madrid Florentino Perez recently stated that he hoped to keep the Brazilian star in Spain's capital for the 2013-14 season.
"Kaka is a phenomenon, but he got injured in the last World Cup and had to have an operation on his knee," Perez said an interview with Columbian website Gol Caracol. "Then [Mesut] Ozil arrived and took his place in the team from him, but he is still one of the greats of the game. He is the second most followed footballer on Twitter, after Cristiano Ronaldo."
He noted that the star could return to his former self under his new coach Carlo Ancelotti.
"He is charming and excites the fans. I'm optimistic that, under Ancelotti, who knows him very well, he can be the same magical Kaka again that we signed," said Perez.
Spanish publication Marca related more on how Ancelotti came to decide on keeping Kaka.
"When he heard about these struggles, the Italian knitted his brows in puzzlement, asking whether Kaká had caused any trouble. As he expected, the reply was in the negative," wrote the publication." He was told that the Brazilian has been a model professional, never uttering a word out of turn or putting a foot out of line, breaking his neck to try to recover his form and showing all the enthusiasm of a fresh-faced youngster when given a rare first-team run-out.
Marca also reported that Ancelotti intends to give Kaka a "clean slate."
Kaka has scored 29 goals in four years with Madrid; he only totaled four during the 2012-13 season.
