'Suits' Season 3 Spoilers: Premiere Will Explore Characters' 'Darkness'

By Staff Reporter| Jul 15, 2013

During the final weeks leading up to the season 3 premiere of "Suits," fans sat idly waiting for their first gimple into the show's future. With only a week remaining before its return, USA Network had yet to release an official trailer. Fans hung onto rumors and cast interviews. There wasn't much to grasp. Their grips slowly weakened, but just as they were about to slip and fall into an abyss of despair, their saving grace arrived in the form of the season 3 trailer.

Last week, the "Suits" season 3 promo went public. Fans drooled over the drama introduced when Harvey bluffed a new contract for Brooklyn Nets star Deron Williams, went head-to-head with Jessica in his apartment about his recent deal, and when Mike tried to reason with a tempered Rachel. Check out the exclusive sneak peek below.

But that's not all. While fans revel in the glory of the new trailer, there's still plenty of other season 3 details to keep them satisfied. In a recent interview withThe Hollywood Reporter, creator/executive producer Aaron Korsh talked about how season 3 will head into more complex territory.

"We explore some more darkness this year," Korsh said. "Going into the premiere, we had to deal with the fallout. There is a rift between Mike and Harvey; a rift between Jessica and Harvey; a big bombshell between Mike and Rachel; and Harvey's [decision] about Scottie. The best option was to tackle them head-on and pick up in the aftermath of where we left off."

Korsh went on to discuss how the show, now in its third season, has the opportunity to explore new horizons now that it's established itself. "Whenever you get to know characters better, it's always easier to take them further because at first, you're establishing who they are," he said. "Once you establish who they are, you can add dimension to them, show how they're different from who you thought they were or change and grow them. Season three allows us to do that. We strengthen bonds that had been broken, and we weaken bonds that had been strengthened."

"Suits" returns to USA Network Tuesday, July 16.
