'Bones' Season 9 Episode 16 Spoilers: Series Goes on Hiatus for Olympics, Returns to Monday Nights

Unfortunately, "Bones" fans will have to wait until after the Olympic Games at the end of Feb. to catch an all-new episode of the hit series.

The next episode, which is entitled "The Source in the Sludge," isn't scheduled to return until Friday, Feb. 28th. According to CarterMatt, this decision seems to be a preemptive move by the show to try to avoid the massive competition from the 2014 Winter Olympics on NBC. As a result, Fox is taking the show off the air until the Sochi games are completed.

Unfortunately, other information about what to expect in the upcoming episode has yet to be revealed.

However, "Bones" fans can rest assured that the comedy-drama sitcom will return for a 10th season later on this year. Now in its ninth season, the show currently airs on Fridays, but that will change on March 10 as the show will switch back to Mondays at 8 p.m.

"Over the course of nine seasons, Bones has grown from a hit crime procedural into a beloved pillar of our lineup that resonates with fans in a way that only the best of shows can," said Fox entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly, according to Deadline.com.

"Our viewers have embraced Emily, David and the entire cast and characters of Bones as their very own, and I think they are going to love what Hart Hanson and Stephen Nathan have planned for Season 10!," he added.

Reilly also announced that "Bones" creator Hart Hanson will be working on his new Fox drama "Backstrom," and that fellow executive producer Stephen Nathan will take over as showrunner.

Furthermore, Reilly confirmed that he thinks Season 10 will likely be the show's last. "I would anticipate it would be the final season," he said, reports Zap2It.
