'Justified' Season 5 Episode 5 Spoilers: The Mob Comes to Kentucky [Video]
On the latest "Justified," Raylan is tasked with finding Wade Messer, who has gotten lost in the woods with Dewey Crowe.
In "Over the Mountain," Dewey (Damon Herriman) lures Wade (James LeGros) into the woods with the promise of digging up one of his secret cash stores, but Dewey ends up shooting him and beating him with a shovel. But by the time Dewey returns from his truck to continue digging, Messer's body has disappeared. Dewey then stumbles down a hill.
The next day, Raylan (Timothy Olyphant) learns that Messer was a criminal informant for Boyd (Walton Goggins), but has failed to report in. Raylan tracks a GPS to Audrey's to find Messer's phone. Meanwhile, Dewey breaks down and prays to god that Messer survives, and luckily finds a blood trail that leads to Messer. Dewey finds Messer, but he's surrounded by a family of hunters who insist on caring for him. Despite that, Messer dies.
Later, Raylan tells Boyd that a missing criminal informant would make him a primary suspect, so Boyd reluctantly turns over the number to Messer's private burner phone.
Meanwhile, Detroit chief Ed Kirkland (Shashawnee Hall) calls Art (Nick Searcy) to tell him they have information on Sammy Tonin's whereabouts on the night of Nicky Augustine's murder, but he'll have to come to Detroit.
Raylan tracks Messer's phone to a spot in the woods. Dewey and Daryl (Michael Rapaport) then find Wade to finish the job, but Raylan and the police have already located Messer's dead body.
Daryl then keeps Dewey locked in a trailer, urging him to join him in his mission in Harlan.
Boyd and Carl (Justin Welborn) find that Johnny (David Meunier) is dealing with Rodney "Hot Rod" Dunham (Mickey Jones), meaning they have to plot their revenge.
Raylan looks into the Crowes for Messer's murder, and Art goes to Detroit to find out that the police picked up the Canadian mobster (Will Sasso) who Boyd was formerly dealing with. He tells Art that Sammy Tonin claimed to have been working with a Kentucky lawmaker who now resides with Wynn Duffy (Jere Burns).
Allison (Amy Smart) tells Raylan that he should not spend the night, soon revealing that an abusive father who had chained his son down nearly attacked her with a tire iron.
Lee Paxton (Sam Anderson) says he will testify against Ava (Joelle Carter).
Raylan then arrives at Audrey's to intimidate the Florida Crowes into leaving Harlan, and eventually gets young Kendall Crowe to go to social services.
Boyd and Carl then find dead bodies stashed from failed heists.
On the next episode, "Shot All to Hell," "Raylan's secrets are at stake when a mob revenge plot descends upon Kentucky, and Boyd's recent successes are tempered by a crushing defeat."
