DOTA 2 News: New Hero, Mode Added to Game in Newest Patch
DOTA 2 is currently in the middle of the New Bloom festival, and developer Valve has decided to reward players by not only introducing a new hero into the game but adding a new mode into the game in the latest update released by the company. The update, officially titled Update 6.8, is described in full on the DOTA 2 official website, and players can see the full amount of tweaks and other additions Valve has put into the game there. However, the big items that players will receive are the new hero and game mode.
The new character is called Terrorblade, and the hero actually made his first appearance in the original DOTA. As fans can probably guess from the character's name, Terrorblade is not a particularly nice person, as seen in Valve's official description of the character:
"Terrorblade is the demon marauder-an outlaw hellion whom even other demons fear. He stole from the Demon Lords and for his crimes was taught this lesson: even Hell has a hell. He was incarcerated in Foulfell, a dark mirror of reality where demons are sentenced to gaze into twisted reflections of their own souls. But instead of suffering, Terrorblade mastered his reflected worst self and turned his terror loose upon creation."
Terrorblade's abilities are also listed in the post, but those who decide to play the newest game mode for DOTA 2 may not get the chance to use them. The new mode is called "Random Ability Draft," and it will shake up how players will approach the game. Random Ability Draft will be unlocked at level 11, and adds a more chaotic nature to DOTA 2. Players will be randomly assigned a hero, and the abilities of that hero will be put into a pool. Players will then take turns picking the pooled abilities of the heroes and then face off against each other. This means that any character could potentially have any ability in the new mode, which could lead to some interesting new tactical decisions that players must come up with on the fly.
This new content will be a welcome addition to DOTA 2 as players will have a new character to pick from as well as a new game mode that will test just how skilled they are with different characters found on the game's roster.
