Sony Online Entertainment Announces All Access Subscription Program Covering Most Titles
Sony Online Entertainment, the company behind many of the most popular MMO titles available today, has announced that it will offer a single subscription beginning on April 2 that will cover multiple titles, ending the need for multiple subscriptions to the company's games and potentially saving users hundreds over the course of a year.
According to the forum post announcing the news, the All Access program will cost users $14.99 and cover a wide variety of current and future Sony Online Entertainment games such as DC Universe Online, PlanetSide 2, and Everquest Next. If users commit to a longer plan, the price per month cost could actually fall below that. However, Sony has yet to reveal what sort of long-term packages for All Access will be offered to users, so it is impossible to say how much users may save by paying for All Access in a package for three, six, or 12 months. Games covered by the $14.99 price tag include EverQuest, EverQuest II, DC Universe Online PC, PlanetSide 2 PC, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, the upcoming EverQuest Next, and EQN Landmark.
All Access will function in a very similar way to the PlayStation Plus service Sony offers PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita users. For the price of admission users get access to their subscription-based games, as well as a wide variety of additional benefits, including receiving 500 Station Cash per month from All Access, a special 10 percent discount on different marketplace promotions, and some exclusive promotions.
Sony also announced that players who subscribe to any of the games covered by All Access will automatically be enrolled into the program when it starts in April:
"We value you as a player and want you to know we are listening so please continue to share feedback. We hope the new All Access membership plan will allow you to further your enjoyment of your favorite SOE game, and discover exciting, new experiences across our current and upcoming portfolio of online games. On or about April 2nd, all players with existing memberships will be automatically upgraded into the new plan. So sit back, relax and enjoy the new savings and benefits!"
