Infamous: Second Son News: Multiplayer Not Part of Game, Confirms Sucker Punch
If you were looking forward to multiplayer slugfests in the upcoming Playstation 4 exclusive, Infamous: Second Son, you may be out of luck. One member of the development team has revealed that the open-world game will not feature multiplayer in any capacity.
Ken Schramm, the game's brand development director, spoke to Taiwanese website UDN, via Dualshockers, and revealed that there are no plans for a multiplayer component to Infamous: Second Son, and that the game was designed for a solo experience. The main character for the game, Delsin, will meet with many different nonplayable characters throughout the game, but the game will not allow a second player to play as these characters in co-op situations.
This news may disappoint fans of the Infamous series that have been waiting to engage in epic fights with other superpowered characters, however, the huge open world players will be able to explore and the ability to choose between different morality paths should more than make up for the fact that players will not be able to band together to play the game.
Schramm also revealed that the game will feature an open architecture when it comes to the side quests players can perform. This means players will be able to pursue the quests that are not part of the game's story whenever they want. However, due to the different branching paths players can take throughout the game, some quests will not appear. For example, if players choose more morally sound actions, different quests will appear instead of some quests that will only appear to players who have gone rogue. It will be interesting to see what sort of options open up for these side quests for players who take different paths, and this diversity should encourage players play the game multiple times to see what sort of missions they missed out on earlier.
Infamous: Second Son will be available only on the PlayStation 4 on March 21. The game takes place in Seattle, Wash. and features Delsin, a young man who has the power to absorb neon lights to fuel various powers as well as the ability to become smoke. Infamous: Second Son will be available both as a separate game as well as part of a new bundle for the PlayStation 4.
