Tiger Woods Tees Off At Farmers Insurance Open 2014 Thursday: TV Schedule, Live Stream, Tee Times, and Leaderboard
Tiger Woods will officially kick off his season when he competes at the Farmers Insurance Open on Thursday at Torrey Pines.
Woods, who failed to win a major title last year, will look to start the year on the right foot when he takes the course together with Jordan Spieth and Jimmy Walker at 1:40 p.m. EST Thursday in the opening round of this year's tournament.
All eyes will be on Woods as he tries to secure his 80th PGA Tour victory that would put him two more tour victories away from eclipsing Sam Snead's all-time record.
Woods is actually in a good position to get closer to breaking the record, considering his previous performances in the tournament. The American has seven Farmers Insurance Open titles under his belt, while also winning eight titles at Torrey Pines, which he described as one of his favorite venues.
Analysts predict a strong year for Woods, with the majority of experts saying that the 38-year-old golf superstar is bound to end his long major title drought, but Woods refused to talk about the predictions, saying that he always treats every season as a big year.
"I view it as every year's a big year," Woods said. "Every year that I get a chance to compete and play in tournaments and major championships for as long as I decide to do it, every year's a big year, every year counts."
Aside from the Woods-Speith-Walker group, the group composed of Phil Mickelson, Bubba Watson, and Jason Day is also expected to have their fair share of the spotlight on Thursday.
Mickelson previously ruled the tournament thrice in his storied career, while Watson will look to repeat his title-winning performances in 2011. The group will tee off at 12:30 p.m. EST.
