'Glee' Season 5 Spoilers: Second Half of Season to Take Place Exclusively in NYC
"Glee" is moving exclusively to the Big Apple.
The Fox dramedy "will go to New York exclusively for the second half" of season five, Fox chief Kevin Reilly told reporters at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, according to TVLine. The new storyline means fans will not see some of the residents in Lima, Ohio for quite some time.
"Creatively, it would ridiculous if everybody moves to New York," said Reilly. "This season, there's going to be a graduation [from Lima's William McKinley High]. Several of the cast members will move on, and a few others will go to New York."
While some McKinley High students will fade into the background, Sue Sylvester will move to NYC along with her former students.
"As long as there's a show, there's Jane," Reilly said.
He said the characters who do not move to New York "will arc back in when we do special episodes. They'll always be a part of it. The way it's going to dovetail next season, we're going to see some familiar faces coming around in some capacity."
"We do have [the show] through next season and that will be the final season," Reilly continued. "[Ryan's] got some fantastic ideas on what we're going to next year for the final year."
Darren Criss, who plays Blaine on the series, said that he and Kurt (Chris Colfer) may live together in the city after Blaine graduates.
"I don't know if they'll live together, but that would be cool. That's a big step, a big change for any couple. It presents a whole new set of rules," Criss told TVLine.
When "Glee" returns from its winter hiatus in February, many series stars will return for the show's landmark 100th episode.
TVLine confirms that Dianna Agron, a.k.a Quinn Fabray, will be returning for the 100th episode, as well as Heather Morris, Mark Salling, Amber Riley and Harry Shum.
When the series returns, it will air on its new night, Tuesday, on Feb. 25. The next episode, called "Frenemies," will focus on feuding friends.
In the upcoming episode, "Rachel (Lea Michele) will face off with Santana (Naya Rivera). Kurt is going head-to-head with Elliott. And Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz) will be feuding with her ex-boyfriend, Artie (Kevin McHale)."
"Glee" will return for episode nine of its fifth season on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 8 p.m. EST on Fox.
