Fable Trilogy Bundle Release Date Confirmed for Xbox 360, Includes Fable Anniversary
The Fable trilogy of games was one of the most well received franchises created by legendary game developer Peter Molyneux, and to celebrate the first game's 10 year anniversary Fable Anniversary was announced for release on the Xbox 360 on Feb. 4. Now, Microsoft has confirmed that not only will Fable Anniversary be available for both old and new fans, but Fable Trilogy will be available as well.
Fable Trilogy will not only include Fable Anniversary, but Fable 2 and 3 as well. This collection will be available on Feb. 4 as well, meaning players can choose to either pick up the updated first entry into the series separately or buy it with the other two games in the series. According to the listing on the Xbox Marketplace for the Fable Trilogy, buying all three games together will give players an overall discount that's not available if the games are purchased separately.
There was some confusion if the Fable Trilogy would include Fable Anniversary, and if the game's listing on the Xbox Marketplace was real or not. However, Microsoft has confirmed that the Fable Trilogy is indeed confirmed and Fable Anniversary will be included in the collection.
"The Fable Trilogy bundle in the Xbox Marketplace is real and in development. The bundle will include full Xbox 360 titles for Fable Anniversary, Fable 2, and Fable 3...We're excited to share official details regarding the release soon on Lionhead.com," Microsoft said in a statement to Eurogamer.
While Microsoft has confirmed that the game is indeed real, there's been no mention of the collection's price. It will be interesting to see exactly how much of a discount is offered for buying Fable Trilogy rather than buying the three games separately, and if the potential success of Fable Anniversary inspires Lionhead Studios to create updated versions of Fable 2 and 3 as well.
In addition to putting out Fable Anniversary and the Fable Trilogy, Lionhead is preparing to bring the franchise to the Xbox One as well. Fable Legends will bend the rules of multiplayer gameplay on the new console. Four players will be able to play the game at once as four heroes, while a fifth will act as a dungeon master of sorts and create the level that the other four must navigate, placing enemies and outlining the quest for the other players in real time as they play through the level.
