Marc Anthony Represents Latin Community with Another Guinness World Record Title
Once again, Marc Anthony gave pride to every Latino as he landed another Guinness World Record. The 47-year-old star was awarded for having the "most year-end best-selling albums in the tropical albums chart by a solo artist."
A judge named Amanda Mochan said that the pleasure was hers for giving the recognition to an icon of the Latin community and even called him an "amazing" person, Latin Times reported.
"I cannot think of a better way of celebrating my return to Madison Square Garden and be presented with this recognition here at home, where everything began with just a dream. I am honored to receive this special recognition from Guinness World Records," the record producer responded.
According to the Guinness World Records website, the American actor knew how to stun his fans with "show-stopping sold out" concerts and "chart-topping" hits. The recognition celebrated his comeback for the first time in 10 years in his hometown of New York City with a performance at Madison Square Garden.
Moreover, the television producer is also one of the renowned "bestselling" salsa artists of all time, marketing 12 million album copies worldwide. He has also won two Grammys and five Latin Grammys. His LPs, "Desde un Principio: From the Beginning" in 2000, "Libre" in 2002, and "3.0" in 2013, were the most profitable tropical records in their particular years, NBC News added.
Marc Anthony is also the latest celebrity Latino who is against the racist comments of Donald Trump. In fact, in his Las Vegas show, he cried out for all his fellow countrymen in the U.S. for unity, in spite of being raised differently.
"We're Latinos, no matter where you come from. In my country, they call me Puerto Rican. In your country, they call you Mexican, Guatemalan. But here, in the United States, we are f--king Latinos. We are one! I'm sorry, I normally don't talk about this stuff but I'm just sick and tired," he said.
Anthony's fellow singer, the Puerto Rican-Spanish Ricky Martin, also told the 69-year-old GOP candidate that he should stop his negative remarks about Latinos. The 44-year-old stressed that they should be respected, especially their ancestors, who fought for their rights, Latin Post cited.
