Behind the Scenes of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Volume 2 with Chris Pratt [Release Date & Details]
The sequel for "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will not hit theaters until 2017, but the people involved in it are already contributing to the hype surrounding the film. Just this week, the movie's lead star Chris Pratt used his personal Instagram page to tease what's in store for fans when the follow-up premieres on the big screen.
Pratt shared a photo of Star-Lord's Walkman and Awesome Mix Vol. 2 on Instagram. The caption accompanying the snapshot conveys the actor's excitement to be back on the set of a Marvel Studios film.
A snippet of Pratt's Instagram post read: "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. Is going to be the greatest spectacle film of all time. This is not.... bear with me... using online thesaurus..... Hyperbole! This is not hyperbole!"
Director James Gunn also posted his own reunion photo of the crew on Facebook, featuring Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Pratt (Star-Lord/Peter Quill), Dave Bautista (Drax), and Sean Gunn, who's the on-set actor behind Rocket Raccoon. Missing in action are Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper, who voice Groot and Rocket, respectively. However, given that the two actors only do voiceover work, it's not surprising that Gunn's snapshot didn't include them.
In a response to a query on Twitter last month, Gunn revealed that the post-credit scene of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" has already been "scripted."
Citing sources close to the project, Geek.com claimed that a fan favorite from the comic books will come to life in the upcoming film. The character is Ego, the Living Planet, which was just a regular old planet before a cosmic being known as The Stranger gave it consciousness. In its quest to find itself, Ego begins to conquer other planets.
As for Taneleer Tivan, also known as The Collector, Benicio del Toro said that he hasn't been approached to return to his role for the sequel. The actor, however, expressed hopes to portray the character "again at some point," ComingSoon.net reported.
Other stars who will be reprising their roles in the film are Karen Gillan (Nebula) and Michael Rooker (Yondu), according to Entertainment Weekly. Comedian Steve Agee will reportedly join the cast as well, Flickering Myth wrote.
In December, Kurt Russell confirmed in Wolfpop's "Happy Sad Confused" podcast that he's in talks for a role in the sequel. Earlier rumors claimed that he will be portraying Peter Quill's mystery father.
"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is currently holding rehearsals in Atlanta, Georgia, with filming scheduled to start in the next few months, Cinema Blend reported. The movie will bow in theaters on May 5, 2017.
