Samsung Galaxy S5 Specs Rumors: 2,900mAh Li-ion Battery With Quick Charging Technology
While some of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5's specs were recently confirmed, much of the phone still remains a mystery. A new report, however, sheds some light on the handset's battery.
According to a tipster speaking to PhoneArena, the Samsung Galaxy S5 will come equipped with a 2,900mAh battery, 300mAh more than the Galaxy S4. The Li-ion battery can store up to 20 percent more juice in the same space as traditional batteries, meaning it could still stay the same size. The battery will also utilize quick charging technology that should have the phone from zero to 100 percent in two hours.
While all this is great news, SamMobile does state that the extra battery power could be offset by the impressive new display the Galaxy S5 will sport. The Galaxy S5 should be arriving with a 5.25-inch 2K HD screen with a resolution of 2560X1440. A display like that translates to 560 pixels per inch, and more pixels mean more power needed.
Other rumored Samsung Galaxy S5 specs include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor or 64-bit Exynos 6 processor, a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera, and Android 4.4 KitKat at the time of release. The next-generation flagship phone should also have at least 3GB RAM.
When it does release, the Samsung Galaxy S5 should come in two versions: a cheaper, plastic model and a more expensive variant in a metal casing.
Bear in mind that nothing has been confirmed by Samsung, so until the South Korean electronics manufacturer announces the phone, everything's still up in the air. The Galaxy S5 is expected to release somtime in March or April, around the same time as previous Galaxy S handset launches.
