Samsung Galaxy S5 Specs, Features, Price 'Confirmed' by Insider
Samsung's upcoming flagship Galaxy S5 smartphone is starting to make some serious splashes in the rumor mill, with the phone's specs and new features making most of the headlines. It's not official, but a new SamMobile report from an unnamed insider contains some of the first "confirmed" Samsung Galaxy S5 specs — here's what the phone will reportedly be packing.
According to SamMobile's insider, the Samsung Galaxy S5 will indeed come in two different versions: a cheaper plastic variant and a more expensive model with a metal casing. The plastic Galaxy S5 will apparently cost close to $900 (unlocked, of course), while the metal Galaxy S5 should retail around $1,100. Not exactly affordable options, but the pricing does fall in line with most premium unlocked smartphones.
The Samsung Galaxy S5's display should turn plenty of heads with its impressive 2K HD 2560X1440 resolution, although the insider was not able to confirm what size the screen will be. If previous rumors are correct, the Galaxy S5's display should be 5.25 inches.
As far as what's underneath the hood, the insider also confirmed that the Galaxy S5 will be one of the first phones on the market to sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor. However, it's still unclear which models will be equipped with the Snapdragon 805, and which ones will have a 64-bit Exynos 6 processor. Photographers will be pleased to know that the Galaxy S5 will have a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera. The phone should be running Android 4.4.2 KitKat right out of the box.
Samsung is expected to reveal the Galaxy S5 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona late February with a launch in March or April.
