'Friends' Cast Reunion Finally Happening! [Details]
After years of waiting, petitions and speculations, the cast of "Friends" is finally coming together once more. The reunion is happening in celebration of sitcom director James Burrows's helming milestone of having directed 1000 episodes in his whole career -- 15 of which were episodes of "Friends."
NBC announced the highly in demand get-together on their Twitter account with the hashtag #FriendsReunion. Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow will be gracing a two-hour NBC special airing next month.
There's a big catch, though. The stars may not all be in one place at the same time after all. "I'm hoping all six will be in the same room at the same time," NBC chief Robert Greenblatt said. "I'm not sure we can logistically pull it off," he added.
As per Telegraph, the swarm of fans of the beloved show, which ended 12 years ago, have always hoped for the cast to get together at least for one last time. There were even rumors and speculations of the said ever-elusive "Friends" reunion.
The hopes were once doused by co-creator Marta Kaufman, who implored fans during an interview with E! Online that they need "to let it go. It'll never happen -- not happening!" Kudrow also once said that it really is difficult bringing her and her cast members together into one room.
"The six of us can't even meet for dinner," Kudrow, told Vulture last year. "We're trying but we don't all live in the same state. We don't have the same work schedule anymore," the actress, who won recognitions such as a Primetime Emmy Award for her portrayal of Phoebe Buffay in "Friends," added.
According to Today, it is difficult orchestrating a reunion. In every attempt, there's always one or two missing from the group. But now, it's as official as many fans hoped for, after more than a decade. The NBC will be the first time that the gang will be together again, at least formally, since 2004.
Responding to the "Friends" reunion announcement, Leblanc aka Joey Tribbiani tweeted out "Should be a good time!" Indeed, it will be for the thousands of fans who have been waiting for the Hollywood gods to make the 12 years in the making get-together.
"Friends" first became a household favorite when it aired in 1994. It ran through 2004 with the cast members earning $1 million for every episode they were in. The NBC special will be aired on Feb. 21.
