Kate Upton Poses in Space for New Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue
Kate Upton has graced two of the most memorable and popular Sports Illustrated covers in the history of the magazine. So, of course, it's only right for the supermodel to be photographed for this year's SI issue is in a place where few have gone before: space.
According to the New York Post's Page Six, the blond bombshell, who appeared on the cover of SI's 2012 and 2013 Swimsuit issues, was photographed in a bikini in "zero gravity space" for this year's 50th anniversary issue.
Sources say the 21-year-old beauty "look like something out of 'Barbarella'" as she was shot in a zero-gravity chamber while wearing a silver swimsuit and sporting big hair.
Last year, Upton faced freezing Antarctica temperatures while posing in a bikini bottom for the 2013 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. "I was losing hearing and eyesight because my body was shutting down," she said afterward, according to the Huffington Post.
Late night talk show host Jimmy Fallon joked with the voluptuous model that her next cover should be shot in space. "Think about this; there's no gravity," he said.
Inside sources also revealed that Sports Illustrated photographed a series of legendary models who have graced the covers over the magazine's 50 year stint including Christie Brinkley, who appeared on three covers from 1979 to 1981, Tyra Banks, the first African American woman to grace a SI cover, Carol Alt and Israeli model Bar Refaeli.
It's unclear who will be grace the cover of the 2014 issue, which hits newsstands on Feb. 11.
