Nokia Lumia 520 vs. Lumia 720 Windows Phone Market Share: Lumia 520 No. 1 in Brazil; Lumia 710 Falls to Second Place, Says AdDuplex
The dominance of the Nokia Lumia 520 has been echoed in Brazil as the Windows Phone 8 smartphone was named the most-utilized Windows Phone device in the country.
According to AdDuplex, the Lumia 520 nearly had a double-digit lead over the next Windows Phone device. The Lumia 520 accounted for 32.4 percent of the Windows Phone devices market share in Brazil, which is a 9.8 percent lead ahead of the second-place challenger.
The Lumia 710 previously held first place based on AdDuplex's figures in October 2013. The Lumia 710 fell to second place as the Windows Phone device represented 22.6 percent of the market share.
"Last time we looked at Brazil just 2 months ago, Lumia 710 was still a strong number one, leading by almost 9 [percent] compared to L520 in the second spot. And that was a slightly troubling view," wrote AdDuplex's Alan Mendelevich. "But 2 months later the situation has more than flipped. Not only Lumia 520 is the new leader, but the lead is by almost 10 [percent]. That's a very good sign for a market that was already good to Windows Phone."
The Lumia 720, which made its launch with the Lumia 520 at the 2013 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, ranked third among the Brazilian Windows Phone devices market share. The Lumia 720 accounted for 9.7 percent of the market share.
The Lumia 620 narrowly edged out the Lumia 800 with 8.2 percent to 7.5 percent, respectively.
One non-Nokia Lumia device ranked among AdDuplex's top 10 Windows Phone devices in Brazil. The Samsung Focus Flash ranked eighth place with 2.5 percent, ahead of the Lumia 625 and Lumia 900, respectively.
The AdDuplex report consisted of data from 2,499 Windows Phone apps utilizing the AdDuplex SDK version 2. The data was gathered and analyzed on Dec. 27.
