Lavish Trump Tower to be Built in Uruguay’s Resort City; Touted to be the ‘Best Building in South America’
The lavish Trump Tower to be built in the Uruguayan resort city of Punta del Este is touted to be "the best building in South America," according to Eric Trump, Donald Trump's son and a promoter of the project," Fox News Latino reported.
The construction of the seaside skyscraper, which is headed by the Republican presidential candidate's real estate group, has been ongoing for several months. Once completed, the structure will have 24 stories with 154 luxury apartments plus two exclusive penthouses, as well as 10,000 sq. meters (107,500 sq. feet) of amenities such as gymnasiums, restaurants, tennis courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a spa, and a private heliport, Fox News Latino listed.
The building will also showcase excellent finishes including marble imported from Italy, first-rate accessories, artisan carpentry, and a glass curtain wall covering the structure's façade, the news outlet added. With these elements, the tower will boast of exclusivity.
"We have the best view, we're right on the beach... we're building what will be by far the best building in South America," Trump's son said, as quoted in Fox News Latino's report. The younger Trump is currently visiting Punta del Este to promote the newest Trump Tower.
Eric Trump said that picking the seaside location is strategic and will attract well-off tourists from Uruguay, the region, and the rest of the world. The businessman also referred to Uruguay as an "incredibly safe and stable" country with "a very low crime rate" and is open to foreign investment, Fox News Latino further reported.
"That means we can build and sell a product. It means we can rid our projects of a ton of risks and variables. This country is just fantastic," he said, as quoted by the news outlet. Trump added that Punta del Este is regarded as "the Monte Carlo or the Saint-Tropez of South America," considering the "amount of money, influence and international visitors" flowing in the area.
The Trump Tower Punta del Este is developed by YY Development Group composed of Architect Moisés Yellati and Attorney Felipe Yaryura Tobías, the project's website indicated. Argentine architects, Berardo Dujovne, Silvia Hirsch, and Maria Dujovne of firm Dujovne-Hirsch & Associates, designed the structure. They have also designed and directed the construction of plenty of buildings in Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, USA, and Panama.
About $100 million is invested in the Trump Tower apartments, whose units' price range from $419,000 to around $2 million, Fox News Latino noted.
