Tottenham Transfer News 2016: Argentinian Ezequiel Lavezzi Leaving PSG?
Argentine professional footballer Ezequiel Lavezzi could be leaving Paris Saint-Germain when his contract with the team expires by the end of the season.
Independent reported that he could move to other teams like Arsenal and Inter by this month.
On the other hand, ESPN noted that Lavezzi plans to move to Italy this January, as per agent Alejandro Mazzoni.
The midfielder, who became part of PSG in 2012, has been part of lesser games when Angel di Maria joined the team in August last year.
It was added in the ESPN report that Lavezzi's contract will end in June and it is expected that other teams will run after him.
"Inter and Juventus? We don't know anything yet, but it could all happen very quickly. Italy is his preferred destination, but there is absolutely no hurry. The interest of big clubs is normal when they can get a player like Lavezzi for free," Mazzoni said in the Le10Sport report.
The team who is said to be interested in the Argentine player is Tottenham Hotspurs.
However, according to Daily Mail, it is unlikely that Tottenham will pursue Lavezzi because of his age.
The 30-year-old forward is not preferred over younger players in the league, noted Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino.
A similar HITC report explained that despite his age, Lavezzi can still play well and score goals. He was able to make 34 goals in the 159 games that he played for PSG since he transferred from Napoli in 2012.
It added that a lot of teams are gunning to snatch him from the French team, but Tottenham will not be one of them since HITC said that "the Spurs won't be pursuing a move for him during this month's transfer window."
The same report said that Tottenham is believed to be contenders for the title this season because of their exemplary performance during the first half of the campaign.
Last Sunday, the team had a 1-1 draw with Everton which disappointed the Spurs, but the players remain focused on their goal to claim the title.
Meanwhile, Express claimed that Lavezzi will not be rushed to be transferred and will remain with PSG until the end of the season.
"At the moment I see no real possibility, the player will not leave in January. PSG are doing very well in the Champions League and they want to go as far as possible, that could therefore hinder a Lavezzi departure in January," Mazzoni said in the same report.
