Oculus Rift Preorders Start Wednesday
On Wednesday, Facebook-owned Oculus is set to make its virtual reality (VR) headset Rift available for preorder.
The company's official website revealed that the preorders for the device will start at 8 a.m. on January. 6.
"We'll be sharing everything you need to know to order your Rift on Wednesday when pre-orders go live," the website added.
Reuters mentioned that the Oculus' VR headset will come bundled with the multiplayer space combat games, "Lucky's Tale" and "EVE: Valkyrie."
According to CNBC, executives of the company gave a hint that the Rift headset and other needed accessories will cost around $1,500.
It added that Oculus founder Palmer Luckey is also set to hold a Reddit event where the public can ask him everything about the Rift, prior to it being available for preorder.
Last December, the company already announced that the headset will come with the "EVE: Valkyrie" and an Xbox One controller.
"Eve: Valkyrie is one of the most anticipated virtual reality games, and one of the first true VR games to go into development," Luckey, said in a statement quoted by Gamespot.
He added that the game is a great one for players looking for excellent gameplay, since it captures "immersive gaming" and makes users experience a sci-fi adventure.
Meanwhile, Engadget indicated that Oculus plans to release other titles along with "Rift."
It also clarified that the Valkyrie bundle is not exclusive to "Rift," as it will also be released for the PlayStation VR, since it is expected to come to the Sony headset as well.
Last August, the consumer version of the Oculus Rift debuted during the PAX Prime in Seattle.
VRFocus reported that Oculus Virtual Reality (VR) will introduce the "head-mounted display's" consumer version to the US market for the first time, giving the public the chance to personally experience the technology.
The consumer version features two images projected onto the lenses that creates a "stereoscopic 3D image world" for the users.
Also known as the CV1, the VR device also reportedly includes a "wireless motion controller, Oculus Touch, and the Xbox One controller."
In addition, CNBC said that the Kickstarter campaign for the Oculus Rift started four years ago where the company was able to raise close to $2.5 million.
Last 2014, the company was acquired by Facebook for $2 billion, giving a brighter promise to its VR plans.
According to Luckey, he has laid out long-term plans for the VR technology in gaming and other fields.
