iPad Air 2 vs Samsung Galaxy Tab S2: Size, Price & Spec Comparison
Apple and Samsung have been going head-to-head with their smartphones, and it's no doubt that the two highly popular tech giants will also compete directly when it comes to tablets. Here's how the iPad Air 2 and Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 compare with each other in terms of specs, features, and prices.
Design & Display
Apple's website lists the iPad Air 2 as a 9.7-inch tablet equipped with 2048×1536 resolution (264 ppi). The device, which has an improved Retina display, is 18 percent thinner, 6.1 mm thin, and 0.96 pounds, making it one of the thinnest and lightest tablets out there. It also has an anti-reflective coating, which, according to the company's page, "one of the least reflective displays of any tablet in the world."
The Galaxy Tab S2, in comparison, comes in 8-inch and 9.7-inch screen displays, Samsung's official site indicated. Its 1536 x 2048 screen is equipped with Super AMOLED technology with a 4:3 aspect ratio screen. The tablet has black, white, and gray color variants.
Internal Specs, Camera, & More Features
The iPad Air 2 is powered by an A8X processor chip that can provide better CPU and graphics performance, Apple's website touted. The tablet also boasts of a 10-hour battery, Touch ID technology, an 8-megapixel iSight camera, a 1.2-megapixel front-facing FaceTime HD camera, and dual microphones.
In addition, Apple took note of the Wi-Fi + Cellular model of the tablet capability to run "faster, more advanced LTE technology." There's also the tech giant's latest operating system, iOS 9.
The Galaxy Tab S2, in contrast, is powered by the Exynos 5433 processor chip, with 1.9GHz Quad + 1.3GHz Quad, Samsung's website further specified. Users have the option between 32 and 64GB internal memory storage.
There's also 3GB of RAM, a microSD card slot up to 128GB, the Android Lollipop 5.0.2 as its OS, a fingerprint scanner, and a 5,870 mAh battery that can last from 6 up to 7 hours, Samsung added.
As for its camera, the Galaxy Tab S2 has an 8MP one with f/1.9-apperture lens and a 2.1MP secondary shooter. The tablet also comes with an updated Book Cover Keyboard, which is a desktop PC-like accessory perfect for when you need to work on an array of documents, Samsung's website added.
Price
The iPad Air 2 has a starting price of $499, Apple noted. The Galaxy Tab S2, on the other hand, has a retail price that can reach up to $500, Android Police indicated.
