Microsoft's Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Update Now Supports More Than 100 Titles

With the new Xbox One backwards compatibility update, gamers can enjoy support for more than 100 titles.

PC Mag noted that the long list of much-anticipated games includes titles like "Portal: Still Alive," "Deus Ex: Human Revolution," "Fable III," "Halo: Reach" and "Ms Pacman."

In an announcement on Thursday, Microsoft expressed that this is just the beginning for the backwards compatibility.

"We're continuing to work with our publishing partners to grow our library of Xbox One Backward Compatibility titles, so stay tuned for more," the company added.

Microsoft's plan is to add more games to its catalog, regularly taking into consideration suggestions from Xbox players and fans.

According to Express, since not all Xbox 360 titles will be available during the initial launch, fans can suggest what titles they want to see on the Xbox Feedback.

Xbox head Phil Spencer has reportedly confirmed that his team will make announcements every now and then about the new titles.

Game Informer added that new additions to the game list in the update also included Braid, Doritos Crash Course, Hydro Thunder, Iron Brigade, Kane & Lynch 2, Motocross Madness, Spelunky, Splosion Man, Ticket to Ride and Zuma's Revenge.

Since the backwards compatibility's launch last Nov. 12, Microsoft claimed that gamers have "collectively played" more than 9 million hours of Xbox 360 games on the Xbox One.

In a similar report, TechTimes mentioned that the Xbox One backwards compatibility program has so far been "a success."

"While it's still far too early to know if the feature has affected sales in any meaningful way, backwards compatibility itself works extremely well on Microsoft's latest machine," added the same report.

It, however, noted that the availability of about 100 titles is just "a fraction" of the Xbox 360's full library, but gamers hope that more titles will be made available soon.

Digital Trends added that gamers would want to see 15-20 titles per month, though it claimed that a steady number is not likely.

The same report also discussed that although these games run on the Xbox 360 emulation, Xbox One console features can still be enjoyed.

Aside from these offerings, Microsoft has also allowed Xbox Box Live Gold subscribers to download the Xbox 360 "Games With Gold" selections on Xbox One for as long as they have backwards compatibility.

With this latest announcement from Microsoft, gamers are surely waiting for the regular announcement on the availability of the additional titles.
