Google's 'Lightsaber Escape' Game Turns Your Phone into a Lightsaber to Fight Stormtroopers [Details]
The force is with Google as they joined the hype of the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" fever with their new game, "Lightsaber Escape." The search giant created their latest offering on Chrome, but promised that it will work on all Internet browsers.
The current interactive Chrome Experiment was intentionally released in time for the seventh installment of the epic space movie's opening day, according to Daily Mail. Fans who would like to try the new game simply have to visit lightsaber.withgoogle.com to be able to turn their devices into a lightsaber.
Then, the page will be converted into an interactive combat zone. However, the smartphone must be paired with a desktop in order for this to happen.
On a mobile device, users just have to open his or her browser by visiting the same website. They just have to enter a special URL and they will be alerted with a notification in order to calibrate their handheld device. It will only take a few seconds for the mobile and computer sites to be linked.
They will be next sent to a picture of the lightsaber handle, which will appear on the phone, while the Stormtrooper will be viewed on the desktop screen. To arm their "lightsaber," press a button that will appear on the phone, which will be used to fight "on-screen" opponents.
They, then, will sway their phones from left to right to attack and block the Buckethead. This awesome game will make you feel like a Jedi, a product of the the collaboration between Google and Lucasfilm.
Meanwhile, Lightsaber Escape is just another Google addition to celebrate the "Star Wars" comeback as noted by Forbes. They first created the dark and light side-themed backgrounds in for Google Mail, Maps and Chromecast. Now, a lightsaber tune also appears on YouTube.
However, the downside is that the phone might be a little unresponsive at times because of a small delay when moving the "lightsaber." The connection between the mobile browser and the mobile phone's sites are not able to move very smoothly, as reported by The Independent.
Instead, one has to swing and wag their phone frantically to kill all the coming stormtroopers. It also has been said that it is not working properly on all Android and Windows powered handheld devices.
