‘Dying Light: The Following’ Expansion Pack Trailer Highlights: Gameplay, Characters & Release Date [Watch]

Techland has finally unveiled a new trailer for the "Dying Light" expansion, "The Following." The clip showcases a creepy tease on what's to come for next year's add-on. Watch it below.

"The Following" takes place "shortly" after the events of the original "Dying Light" title," an open-world first person survival zombie apocalypse-themed game, GameSpot reported. Users play as Kyle Crane -- portrayed by voice actor Roger Craig Smith -- who is teaming up with a group of survivors to seek salvation. Crane and his fellow survivors head outside of the game's city of Harran to an area run by a "mysterious group whose intentions are not readily clear," the news outlet added.

As quoted by GameSpot, a line from the expansion's description reads: "The rumor of a way out turned out true, but does a potential cure really exist out here or is it all smoke and mirrors?"

"The Following" bows on Feb. 9, 2016 for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, GameSpot noted. The game can be purchased by itself for $20 (Techland recently increased the price as an indication of its range) or through the $30 "Dying Light" DLC pass. The expansion will also be available as part of the "Dying Light Enhanced Edition," which launches on Feb. 9 as well.

Among the Enhanced Edition's features are better graphics and improved enemy AI, the news outlet wrote. Those who own "Dying Light" is also getting these improvements for free.

Techland Producer Tymon Smektala said in an interview with WCCF Tech that the expansion will feature a map "bigger than all the areas of the original game combined," adding that the new area has enough space to accommodate the two main maps from "Dying Light" and "fit them into The Countryside at least twice."

Smektala said that "The Following" will pick up on players "acting on info that could deal with Tower's immediate needs," WCCF Tech reported. He continued, "We're using 'Dying Light: The Following' to add to Kyle Crane's involvement with the Harran outbreak. Our expansion goes beyond the city walls and takes you to the outskirts where the plague has had a completely different effect on society."

The expansion will reintroduce vehicles in the gameplay, a notable difference from the base game's usage of parkour as a means for navigation. According to Smektala, fans need not worry for there are areas in the expansion's map that will still have parkour as an essential and key tool for survival, the news outlet noted.

Other enhancements featured in the expansion are new looks for new weapons, the Legend and Bounties systems, and 250 additional levels that can be unlocked when you max out your character, WCCF Tech listed.
