Huawei Nexus 7 To Launched by May 2016?: Specs, Features & Price
Google and Huawei are reportedly teaming up in an effort to develop a new tablet in 2016. Both companies are reportedly working on a new generation Nexus tablet that will be launched sometime in May of next year.
Tech Times reports that Google will be releasing a new Nexus 7 (2016) in May of next year. This time, Google will be collaborating wigh Huawei instead of ASUS. Google and Huawei already previously teamed up, launching the Huawei Nexus 6P earlier this year. The success in sales could only spell a future collaboration between the two companies.
The Huawei 6P proved to be a successful collaboration between the two companies. While the phone's design was not necessarily original, the design gives one a feel of having received a premium phone. The phone's fingerprint scanner is located at the back of the phone, instead of on the front.
If rumors are to be believed, the Huawei Nexus 7 will be running on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 chip, which already affirms speculation that the next Nexus device will be running on a Snapdragon chipset.
International Business Times reports that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 was previously launched in Asia on Friday. It has since then been revealed that the newly announced chipset will be found under the hood of more than 70 devices in 2016. It is very likely that the Huawei 7 is to be one of the smartphones to feature the powerful chipset. The Huawei 7 will be the next generation flagship, so it is most likely to come with a heavy price tag.
Android Police said that the Nexus 7 will come with an Android N operating system. One of the main features of the new operating system will be the split screen view. As of now, there are is no official word as to the Nexus 7's features and specs, but knowing Google, they are bound to add some innovations to the device's hardware.
With regards to price, Tech Times has already reported that Google has stopped producing low-cost Nexus devices with mid-tier specs. The Nexus 6P's 32 GB and 64 GB models went out for $499 and $549 respectively. The Google Nexus 9 ranges from $399, up to $599.
It is hard to tell at the moment if Google will be adapting economical pricing for the upcoming Nexus 7. The tablet is set to be released in May 2016.
