Samsung Galaxy S7 to be Equipped with Pressure-Sensitive Display & High-Speed Charging? [Specs, Features & Release Date]

Samsung's Galaxy S7 may be equipped with a pressure-sensitive display and high-speed charging in an effort to outdo the Galaxy S6 and attract more customers.

"People familiar with the matter" told the Wall Street Journal that the tech giant's smartphone, to be released next year, will have a screen that responds to a user's strength of touch. The news outlet's sources also claimed that the Galaxy S7 will come with a new high-speed charging port, along with a higher-quality camera and a retina scanner on certain models.

The high-speed charging port will likely use a USB Type-C technology, the news outlet added. This feature, which is already seen in Google's Nexus 5X, will allow the smartphone to get a full day's charge in less than 30 minutes.

The pressure-sensitive screen would be an effort to match the 3D Touch feature currently utilized in Apple's iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, CNET wrote. The feature permits light taps on the device's screen to produce a different outcome than holding down the screen more firmly.

The Galaxy S7's camera is rumored to perform better in low-light conditions and that doesn't stick out of the back of the device, as does the shooter on the Galaxy S6, the Wall Street Journal wrote. Sources said that the retina scanner is still being developed, but it is expected to provide a stronger level of security ahead of a fingerprint reader to unlock your device. The retina scanner can also possibly authenticate payments through Samsung Pay to make your shopping easier.

The Galaxy S7 is pressured to regain consumers' attention after this year's Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge fell short in helping raise Samsung's struggling smartphone profits, CNET noted. The firm has been going against budget-friendly Chinese phones on the low range and by Apple's iPhone on the high range. Samsung is being challenged to equip its next flagship mobile device with modern and attractive features yet maintain a competitive price.

Samsung Galaxy S7 - More Expected Specs & Features

Just like the Galaxy S6 lineup, the Galaxy S7 is expected to come in two variants: one with a standard display and a model with a display that curves both the left and right edges, the Wall Street Journal further reported. The handset is expected to be announced at the Mobile World Congress, or MWC, in late February next year, with the device hitting store shelves in the U.S. projected in mid-March.

HDBlog.it also claimed that Samsung is bringing back the microSD card slot for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.
