2016 marks the beginning of a great change in the gaming industry, especially for major game developers who are now transitioning to virtual reality.
Fortune reported that Sony, Facebook and HTC are now in the process of creating virtual reality games which are exclusive to their platforms.
Recently, Sony introduced new games for its PlayStation VR headset which are expected to come by next year. Fans are also very much excited to experience this new technology in gaming, especially with the following games to be made available by 2016:
Robinson: The Journey, Crytek, PlayStation VR
In this game, gamers are tasked to control a boy who has crash-landed in a planet full of dinosaurs. Fortune said this is a perfect game for Sony to highlight the capabilities of its new VR handset.
"This game strands players on an entire planet filled with these prehistoric creatures," added the same report.
2. Eagle Flight, Ubisoft, PlayStation VR, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift
"Eagle Flight," will be coming to the PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive next year.
Destructoid reported that the upcoming game will allow players to fly over various parts of a French city with their friends and other gamers.
According to VG247, the game gives players an aerial view of Paris, 50 years after people abandoned the French capital. Gamers will reportedly act as eagles who will monitor what's left in Paris.
3. Damaged Core, High Voltage Software, Oculus Rift
Fortune explained that this game will highlight a light-gun shooter in a Tron-like environment, which is filled with neon colors.
It noted that players can snipe out their enemies from afar or fight them face to face.
"The game uses the "on-rails" gameplay mechanics to transport players in certain levels from one place to another, sidestepping the queasiness that can come from running in virtual reality at this early stage," added Fortune.
4. EVE: Valkyrie, PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift
Gamespot said that EVE: Valkyrie is one of the most anticipated virtual reality games being developed.
"It perfectly captures the promise of immersive gaming, shooting you into a sci-fi adventure as you pilot a spaceship in search of combat. Battling your friends (and enemies) in multiplayer space dogfights is the ultimate VR thrill," said Oculus founder Palmer Luckey.
5. Golem, PlayStation VR
According to Wareable, this is a multiplayer space shooter game which allows players to swap ships, capture flags along with their friends and experience a magical death.
