Nintendo NX to Introduce A New 3-D Free-Form Touchscreen Controller? [Release Date & Details]
The hype for the upcoming Nintendo NX continues as the new patent revealed a new, modern designed controller that combines the style of other Nintendo controllers. The much-awaited device is said to be the company's step in building an interactive kind of gaming.
According to Realty Today, a new copyright has been published online, which showed a state-of-the-art controller that has the combination designs of an analog stick and oval touch screen. In fact, compared to its predecessors, Wii U, DS and its rival, Sony PS4, it looks like a smartphone with a glass surface that is entirely touchscreen.
It has two small holes on each side for the "operation sticks," which allows players to navigate their thumbs from the analog sticks to the touchscreen surface. Additionally, there are also blank spaces that could be the place for the traditional buttons to retain the traditional gameplay, according to the patent.
Arstechnica added that the license also indicated that a "higher feeling of immersion" can be felt by the users on the space where the thumb overlaps with the controller. It also described that the "sense of ambiance" was made as the touch screen hit directly from the thumbs to the thumb sticks.
Additionally, the patent got theoretical as it wrote that the controller needed a new look to solve the problems the usual game devices faces.
"To miniaturize a game apparatus, it is necessary to reduce the number of the operation buttons, to make a size of the operation button small, or to make a size of the display panel small, on the other hand, a game apparatus becomes large if it is intended to enlarge a size of the display panel," it read.
Their solution was to maximize the surface space by making it touch screen rather than to add more buttons, which will enlarge the controller itself. However, the traditional buttons were placed on the edge of the oval-shaped controller.
Meanwhile, Daily Mail cited that the newly published patent resulted in panic-stricken fans who anticipated more from the Nintendo NX. They said it was like a handheld gadget that can compete with Sony's PS Vita.
"It's something unique and different. It's something where we have to move away from those platforms in order to make it something that will appeal to our consumer base," the new Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima said about NX in an interview with Time magazine.
However, there were no furthers details revealed about Nintendo NX's price and specs. Watch the rumor about NX by The Know.
