Oculus Rift Preorder: VR Headset Comes with Free "EVE: Valkyrie" If You Order Now
Preorders of the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset will include a copy of the most awaited VR game, "EVE: Valkyrie."
Gamespot reported that Oculus announced on Thursday that "Rift," which is expected to come out early next year, will come bundled with the VR game and an Xbox One controller.
"Eve: Valkyrie is one of the most anticipated virtual reality games, and one of the first true VR games to go into development," Oculus founder, Palmer Luckey, said in a statement quoted by Gamespot.
He added that the game is a great one for players looking for excellent gameplay.
"It perfectly captures the promise of immersive gaming, shooting you into a sci-fi adventure as you pilot a spaceship in search of combat. Battling your friends (and enemies) in multiplayer space dogfights is the ultimate VR thrill, and we're excited to partner with CCP to bring this experience to Rift owners everywhere," added Luckey.
According to PC Mag, Oculus announced last year that it will tie up with CCP games to co-publish "EVE Valkyrie." It also noted that the lead designer of the game, Chris Smith, has considered this upcoming VR game as the "Halo" of Xbox and the Tetris of Game Boy.
"We want to show that virtual reality is the next generation of gaming, and I think this is the game to do it," he added.
Smith also explained that coming up with the game and moving from 2D to 3D was a big transition for them.
Meanwhile, Engadget indicated that Oculus plans to release other titles along with "Rift."
It also clarified that the Valkyrie bundle is not exclusive to "Rift," as it will also be released for the PlayStation VR, since it is expected to come to the Sony headset as well.
This next phase of gaming will not come cheap, as Destructoid noted that the "Rift" is expected to cost around $300.
Last August, the consumer version of the Oculus Rift debuted during the PAX Prime in Seattle.
VRFocus reported that Oculus Virtual Reality (VR) will introduce the "head-mounted display's" consumer version to the US market for the first time, giving the public the chance to personally experience the technology.
The consumer version features two images projected onto the lenses that creates a "stereoscopic 3D image world" for the users.
Also known as the CV1, the VR device also reportedly includes a "wireless motion controller, Oculus Touch, and the Xbox One controller."
