Apple has made a series of announcements that will surely add some Christmas cheer into the lives of many Apple fans. The most highly anticipated piece of news was the announcement of iOS 9.2.

In a report with Tech Times, the tech giant announced that the latest update will allow users to see some major improvements in their Apple devices, including Apple Music and iBooks. The iOS 9.2 update arrives just about six weeks after iOS 9.1 was released to Apple users. The latest update offers over thirty improvements across apps like Apple Music, News, Mail, Podcasts and Safari.

The Safari View Controller is what many developers use for integrating Safari pop-up windows, Safari Reader, and Safari AutoFill windows within their apps. With the new update, the Safari View Controller supports third-party Action Extensions allowing other apps to be accessed in the Safari view of other apps.

The Mail Drop on iOS feature now supports attachments up to 5GB in size. The Mail Drop feature was only accessible to MacBook users in the past.

Apple News is an application that will automatically allow the device to curate news content based on the interests of the Apple user. iOS 9.2 includes an Apple News update that showcases Top Stories. This is a feature that will allow Apple users to "stay current with the most important news of the day, selected by the Apple News editorial team."

Apple Music also includes several new improvements, reports Forbes. Apple Music can now allow Apple users to create a new playlist containing the song they selected once a playlist is opened. Recently changed playlists will now be listed at the top, once the songs are added to playlists. Apple users can now download albums or playlists from the iCloud Music Library using the iCloud download button.

Users of an iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus can now take advantage of the 3D Touch feature that has been integrated into the iBooks app. iOS 9.2 now includes support for the Apple USB Camera Adapter, as well for accessories used to import photos from digital cameras. Before, only iPads had supported Apple's USB Camera Adapter. This feature is now supported on the iPhone 5 and later, but is not available on the iPhone 4s.

Users can now download and install iOS 9.2 by simply hitting the "settings button" and then going to "general" > "software update" on their Apple devices. The download size is 272 MB.
