'Suicide Squad,' Independence Day: Resurgence' & 'X-Men: Apocalypse' Trailers Rated [Release Date, Cast & News]
Alberta Film Ratings and the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) have just released ratings for films due for release in 2016 and all are expected to circulate all over the Internet soon.
According to Coming Soon, trailers for Marvel's, "X-Men: Apocalypse," 20th Century Fox's "Independence Day: Resurgence," and Warner Bros. Studios' "Suicide Squad" have just been rated, which means they will likely be released soon.
Alberta Film Ratings gave the "trailer B" for Bryan Singer's, "X-Men: Apocalypse," a "PG," which means that if children under the age of 18 are accompanied by adults, they can watch it.
It stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Olivia Munn, Rose Byrne, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Lana Condor, Alexandra Shipp, Ben Hardy, and Oscar Isaac, who plays the titular villain.
Makers of "Apocalypse," which premieres in theaters on May 27, 2016, has also just released a banner featuring Archangel portrayed by the newcomer in the franchise, Ben Hardy.
Said banner was first seen at Sao Paulo, Brazil's, The Comic Con Experience and posted over Twitter by Universo X-Men.
Meanwhile, Alberta Film Ratings also rated the two-minute trailer for Fox's "Independence Day" sequel titled "Resurgence" with a "PG."
According to Coming Soon, the sequel will reunite director Roland Emmerich with the first film's original cast, composed by Jeff Goldblum, Judd Hirsch, Bill Pullman, Vivica A. Fox, and Brent Spiner as well as newcomers Charlotte Gainsbourg, Maika Monroe, Jessie Usher, Sela Ward and Liam Hemsworth.
"Independence Day: Resurgence" is scheduled for theatrical release on June 24, 2016.
On the other hand, the British Board of Film Classification gave the trailer for David Ayer's, "Suicide Squad," a "15" rating.
According to WhatCulture.com, such rating may mean a very different thing for the BBFC, which the site described as "notoriously-squeamish."
"The certificate for Suicide Squad has been the subject of much debate amongst fans, and the fact that the BBFC have just rated the trailer a 15 raises a whole new bunch of questions," the site explained, adding that there may be a "minor amount of blood" or a "truly heinous act" committed by Jared Leto's Joker in it for the clip to earn such rating.
The outlet further noted that a "15" rating from the British board is equivalent to an R-rating in the U.S., which generally is either the same or below the final certificate to be given to the film's final cut.
Of course, there is still a chance that the filmmakers will decide to cut some of the gore out, particularly after reports revealed how they are aiming for a PG-13 rating.
