iPhone 6 Rumors Specs 2014: Sixth-Generation Apple Inc. 'iPhone Air' Thinner Yet Heavier Than iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s [Report]
The sixth-generation iPhone might receive a new name as well as an increased screen size based on new reports circulating from South Korea.
According to ET News, Apple will release the iPhone 6, but the report has coined the smartphone as the 'iPhone Air."
The alleged iPhone Air will allegedly be the thinnest iPhone yet at 6-millimeters thick. In comparison to its predecessor, the iPhone 5s has a depth of 7.6 millimeters, while the iPhone 5c stands at 8.97 millimeters.
Citing sources in China, ET News reported that the sixth-generation iPhone will maintain its metal cover although it may be heavier than previous iPhones.
In addition, the iPhone 6 will sport a similar design seen with the iPhone 5s except for screen size. Reports have stated the display for the iPhone 6 will be bigger than the current 4-inch screens, which have been sported on Apple smartphones since the iPhone 5's debut in September 2012.
As Latino Post reported, a report by Weibo claimed the iPhone 6 would be split into two variants. The report noted the iPhone 6 will see a 4.7-inch model and a 5.7-inch model. Of the two alleged iPhone 6 models, one will feature the Touch ID fingerprint sensor. The report noted an eye recognition component could be added onto the Apple smartphone.
While the iPhone 6 is expected to launch in September 2014, the iPhone 5s is rumored to see a price reduction to $100 by May for on-contract purchases, according to ET News.
