Sandra Bullock Adopts Second Child, Meet New Daughter Laila
Sandra Bullock made her eldest child, Louis Bardo Bullock's, wish of having a younger sibling come true, as the actress recently adopted a new child named Laila. The 51-year-old star graced the cover of People magazine together with her children to introduce her little girl to the world.
In an interview with People, the actress revealed that it was her 5-year-old son who persuaded her to adopt another child who has the same ethnicity as her son. She said that he had led the decision.
"I did remind him that it could be either a brother or a sister and that we would be so lucky to have either one. He did specify that he wanted a sibling who has some brown skin," Bullock added. The 3-1/2-year-old child was from foster care system, but already had been living with the mother and son for quite a while, even before the adoption was finalized.
The Hollywood A-lister proved that the two children came into her life exactly as she needed them most. In fact, she asserted that every time she looks at Laila, she's very much sure that she did the right thing by making her her daughter.
People added that the family picture on the cover of their magazine was photographed by Bullock's boyfriend, Ryan Randall. The award-winning actress is hoping that other people will help the rest of the 415,129 children left in foster care and give them the "family" that they are dreaming of.
Meanwhile, ABC News added that Bullock adopted her eldest child in 2010, but she already began starting the process of legalizing things as early as 2006. She was then married to her former husband, Jesse James, who's a custom motorcycle builder and a TV personality.
After four years, they finally got the call, just in time for awards season. In fact, she had gotten an Oscar award for her movie, "The Blind Side." However, while she intended to keep Louis a secret to save him from all the rumors, when she was about to receive her Academy Award for Best Actress, she hinted to everyone that she brought her character to life by adopting a child.
"I had to smile at the parallel. Here I was promoting a story about a family who adopted a son, and here we were having done the same thing," she said in her speech. Unfortunately, before Bullock disclosed the public adoption of Louis, her marriage with James had gotten rocky. They eventually split and Bullock has since raised the child alone.
