In a silent release on Tuesday, Rockstar Games made the "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" available for PlayStation 3 users.

Polygon said the game download, which is 2.1 GB, has been made available on the PS3 for $14.99. It noted that the PS3 port replaced the PS2 Classics version of the game, released less than three years ago.

However, the same report explained that it is still unclear if the PS3 version of the "San Andreas" game has the same port as that of Rockstar, which was released on the Xbox 360 in October last year.

"The Xbox 360 version runs on 720p, and offers a better draw distance than the PlayStation 2 original did," Polygon added.

Meanwhile, TechnoBuffalo reported that the game is said to run on 720p, and has the same trophies except for the "Trickster" achievement, which is now replaced by the platinum trophy.

In explaining the achievement, TechnoBuffalo said "Trickster" requires players to succeed in 10 pimping missions.

According to Food World News, "San Andreas" was released last October 2004 and has been considered one of the most successful video games of all time, selling 27 million copies.

It is set in the fictional state of San Andreas, which focuses on former gang member, Carl "CJ" Johnson, who has returned to his home in Los Santos after the death of his mother.

"Over the course of the adventure, players will work to rebuild CJ's crew and uncover the mystery behind his mother's killer," added the same report.

The future of the GTA franchise is still unclear since developers have yet to announce when the "GTA 6" will be available.

Neurogadget noted there is a very low probability that "GTA 6" will be released in the next two years.

"It will take more years for the developers to build this game. We agree that they have many ideas they can use, but still, a game such as GTA can't be built in just 2 years," added the same report.

With this expectation set, players can reportedly anticipate that the game will be available in the market sometime in 2019 or 2020.

It may indeed be a few more years before the public will be able to get a hold of this game, but Trusted Reviews noted that this will give players ample time "to build the perfect GTA game" in their heads.

When it becomes available four to five years from now, the game is expected to arrive with a female lead character, modeled after actress Eva Mendes.

The game is expected to be available for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
