Xbox One Backward Compatibility: 'Bioshock,' 'Call of Duty' & More Games on the Way [List]
The Xbox One Backward Compatibility feature has already launched alongside the new Xbox One Experience userface overhaul. With it also comes a list of over 100 Xbox 360 games that are now available for the Xbox one, as reported by Inquisitr.
If a list of over 100 games does not seem too impressive for you, don't worry: Microsoft revealed that the list is scheduled to grow every month. Xbox One is yet to release a schedule for the Xbox 360 games coming via backwards compatibility, but here is the list of games already playable, as listed by Thurrott.
A few titles have also been added, such as:
- Halo Reach
- Halo Wars
- Skate 3
- BioShock
- BioShock 2
- Bioshock Infinite
- Call of Duty: Black Ops
Inquisitr also noted that with "Call of Duty: Black Ops" being one of the best games, it is a huge win for Microsoft and Xboz one to land it on the Backward Compatibility list. This is surprising considering that Activision wasn't originally among the primary supporters in the list. However, with "Call of Duty" fans petitioning the move for Activision and Microsoft to pull it together, they were able to put their favorite on the list of games coming to the Backward Compatibility program.
After "Call of Duty," other fans are also clamoring for the inclusion of the Original Xbox games on the list. The program management director, Mike Ybarra, had the same sentiments as thousands of fans, however, this is not the primary concern of their team, considering they are still developing more titles for the program.
He shared, "We're not looking at original Xbox games on Xbox One yet. Right now the focus is making more Xbox 360 games work. [It would be] certainly very challenging," adding that "Getting Xbox 360 games to work was incredibly challenging and really a multi-year engineering investment. Going all the way back to the original certainly would challenge the team."
For those who are intrigued by some of the titles but haven't gotten around to playing them yet, Xbox 360 games can be purchased on the Xbox 360 store. Check them out here.
Updates will be released via the Xbox One Backwards Compatibility page. There is also a downloadable list on a PDF file that has all the updated playable titles. However, until the arrival of the next batch, what do you think of the titles that have already been released? Are there games that you think they totally missed out on?
