'Red Dead Redemption 2' News, Release Date & Trailer: Game to be Prequel of the Original? [Rumors]
More rumors are popping up about Rockstar Games' "Red Dead Redemption 2."
CrossMap cited a Reddit user named AnonDN1978, who claimed that the follow-up will be set 12 years prior to the original game, making "Red Dead Redemption 2" a prequel rather than what was initially believed as a sequel.
Earlier this month, a source from Cyberland revealed that Rockstar is "currently finalizing their plans for 'GTAV' and they are going to focus on 'RDR2' now. Rockstar expects the game to be out by October next year as long as the devs doesn't hit any road blocks during development," CrossMap claimed in a separate report.
AnonDN1978 also said that the installment will have a multiplayer game called gang mode and that the follow-up will be titled "'Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West," the news outlet added. The Reddit user noted that the developer has been working on the sequel for 3 and 1/2 years now.
Regarding the probable storyline of "Red Dead Redemption 2," users will reportedly be given an option to play as three characters: Irish and Seth or a new third character that is customizable and will be available as "a gun for hire of sorts," CrossMap added.
However, these are all speculations at the moment and fans will still have to wait for an official announcement from Rockstar.
In December 2014, Rockstar said that they are not rushing when it comes to producing sequels for their video games.
The post read, "It's wonderful to see so much excitement and enthusiasm for the 'Red Dead' series, and nearly 5 years after 'Red Dead Redemption's' release. As we've mentioned when asked in the past about new games in other series such as 'Red Dead Redemption,' 'Bully,' and 'L.A. Noire,' we don't always rush to make sequels, but that does not mean we won't get to them eventually. We have so many games we want to make and the issue is always one of bandwidth and timing. We thank longtime fans such as yourselves as always for your amazing support and please stay tuned in 2015 for announcements of what's to come from Rockstar Games."
Straus Zelnich, CEO of Take Two, the company that owns Rockstar, said in the most recent Cowen and Company analyst conference that "Red Dead" is going to be a franchise, the CrossMap further reported. There are also rumors claiming that the sequel will feature the story of Jack, John Marston's vengeful son, and will reportedly head to all present generation consoles, such as PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
