Ronda Rousey Will Make Comeback After KO Loss to Holly Holm, Says Conor McGregor
UFC champion Conor McGregor is confident Ronda Rousey will make a huge comeback after her knockout defeat by Holly Holm.
In a TMZ interview, the MMA fighter opposed the statement of presidential candidate Donald Trump who said Rousey was "not a nice person."
"Donald can shut his big fat mouth. I don't give a f--k about Donald Trump," McGregor said when he was cornered by TMZ after his plane landed in Los Angeles - as seen in the video below.
He is said to be making final preparations for his UFC 184 fight versus Jose Aldo.
When asked about his thoughts on Holm's knockout victory against Rousey, the UFC star said it was a very tough fight.
"Holly fought a great fight and much respect. This is the fight business, these things happen. Ronda will be back. True champions come back and congratulations to Holly, the new champion," he added.
Yahoo Sports said Holm showcased her aggression to give Rousey a memorable defeat.
It added that Rousey was the aggressive fighter during the beginning of the game "looking for the right hold and taking head shots along the way." But Holm was able to see an opening 59 seconds after the start of the second round.
The winning fighter threw a kick on Rousey's head after the the latter stumbled during contact. This sent the former undefeated UFC fighter down on the canvas.
According to Sydney Morning Herald, Rousey was taken to the hospital after her knockout loss. The former champ was reportedly depressed about her defeat.
It noted that Ronda was also not able to speak to members of the media after the match since she suffered a split lip.
According to Fox Sports, McGregor has not yet spoken to the former UFC female champ but noted he has great faith that she will "bounce back from this because that's the true mark of a champion."
It added that though McGregor has not really dealt with bad losses in his career, he manages to come back and rise up in those few occasions where he lost. He used those experiences to be better.
"Defeat is the secret ingredient to success. So true champions can conquer that, overcome that and come back. I wish her all the best," McGregor added.
Earlier, Rousey was also positive that she can rise from her recent loss. In an Instagram post, Rousey expressed her gratitude to all her supporters and noted that she will be back.
"I just wanted to thank everyone for the love and support. I appreciate the concerns about my health, but I'm fine. As I had mentioned before, I'm going to take a little bit of time, but I'll be back," Rousey wrote.
